Description
The style of this painting can be classified as part of the New Figuration movement, where people and objects are portrayed through splashes of colour that balance between abstraction and figuration: deformed silhouettes of women, androgenic, anonymous bodies deprived of details or multidimensional. I often paint women who are deep in thought, romantic, relaxed, or simply sitting or lying. Figurative art has always been at the heart of my practice, inspiring everything I create. I am deeply fascinated by the human form and often depict it through an abstract lens. My influences come from the body itself, the physicality of paint, and the expressive power of gesture.
New figuration refers to artistic tendencies in art that rejected the aesthetics of impersonal abstract art and updated various forms of return to the figure. While they assumed a human phenomenon, the human did not have to be physically present - a trace or sign is sufficient. It represents an internally urgent expression of moods and existential feelings.
